A Lady and Her Two Daudgters
Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) : A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and did not eat anything herself, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) came in and I informed him about this story. He said, "Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them generously (with benevolence) then these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hell-Fire." It was related by Al-Bukhari

Message From Our Scholar
"Do not destroy the reward of your deeds of charity by reminding or bragging about it or by causing harm (thereafter)." 2:264. Any deed we do to assist others in any way must be done with humbleness & solely for the pleasure of the Almighty. Those who keep reminding people of how they were helped by them, or brag about it will nullify the reward of that deed just like those who cause harm to them thereafter would.

The Holy Qur'an. A Miraculous Holy Book

Each and every word of the Qur'an was recorded as soon as it was revealed by God to the Prophet through Angel Gabriel. The Prophet's secretary, Zaid Bin Th'a bit, used to record them exactly as the Prophet told him. He would read back to the Prophet what he had recorded. read more...

Responding Evil With Goodness

It is not a merit to respond goodness with goodness and evil with evil. The real virtue is to counter not just goodness with goodness but also evil with goodness. Because of our benefaction, if the person treated with goodness is an enemy, he becomes a friend; if he is a friend nor an enemy he becomes closer; and if he is a friend, his friendship and love increases. And repelling evil with goodness becomes a fence between evil and the evil doer. read more...

The Pictures on Facebook - My Standpoint

image

While there are multiple benefits of having pictures on Facebook, including "so my friends know it's me who is adding them" and "my relatives overseas want to see what I look like", it's quite a risky business. Accessible from Google, the entire process of having our pictures downloaded and saved on someone's computer takes only a few seconds. It is very possible that a Hijabi sister's cute profile picture of her having a good time with friends might very well end up in the hands of an overzealous matchmaker in the community and ogled over by dozens of boys around the globe, and vice versa. read more...

Horoscope in Islam

image

One who seeks his horoscope comes under the ruling contained in the Prophet's statement: "The Salaah (daily prayer) of whoever approaches a fortune-teller and asks him about anything will not be accepted for forty days and nights...If, however, one believes in the predictions of their horoscope, whether spoken by an astrologist or written in books of astrology, he falls directly into Kufr (disbelief) as stated by the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) "Whoever approaches an oracle or fortune-teller and believes in what he says, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad." read more...
